Unit 1A Research for Creative Media Production-Task 1

Primary research- is collecting data which is created for the first time and there is no previous source available e.g. talking to people, questionnaires etc.
Secondary research- is collecting data that already exists and has already been collected e.g. statistics.

Unit 7B Print Production-Task 5

When using photographs in a print product you will need to have a signed model release of the person/people that are in the image. You will need to seek permission from them to say that they give you permission to use the image. Models that are used and are under the age of 16 will require a parent of legal guardian’s signature on their behalf. The model will also be paid a certain amount of money in order for the photography to be used. If an image that is used in a print product already exists, you have to find and contact the copyright holder and gain permission to use the image for any commercial purpose. In some cases, some may ask for money in order for their image to be used.

Unit 18C Advertising Production-Task 1

I believe the perfume advert that I have designed does fit all of the CAP codes used by the Advertising Standards Agency. In my advert I haven't used any inappropriate language which may cause offence towards people, also the image I have used is suitable as it is not inappropriate. Within the advertising I haven't made any false claims about the perfume that may be misleading towards the audience as I have kept it simple and straightforward, only displaying the perfume and an image of the target audience the perfume is aimed towards.

How to write an advertising proposal

I'm no expert in advertising but my mentor in college is. Anyway, I'll just provide an overview of how an advertising proposal goes and I don't really want to go technical and stuff.

Now the thing is the client usually has no idea how advertising works. They go to the advertising agency for help but sometimes they don't acknowledge what the ad agency thinks is best for their product or service. They have expectations already and they don't realize that the ad agency has a better idea of how it should be done. It's alright though. The advertising agency doesn't just try to convince a target market to patronize a certain good or service, they also try to convince the client as well to give their advertising proposal the thumbs up. They have to come up with a presentation of how they visualise the campaign should be so that the client would think the same way and fund their campaign

Here is basically how the advertising proposal goes. This totally needs to be elaborated.

1. A study of the product: "What is it?"
A background study of the product is the foundation of a proposal. How are you supposed to advertise something you don't even know?

2. A study of the industry: "Where are we?"
It's not just about the product after all. It's also about how the product is together with all the other products out there. What are the current situations? What are its strengths and weaknesses? Where do you think are the good opportunities for the products? Who are considered as competition/threat?

3. "Why are we there?"
What were the previous steps taken that is why the product is like that? Where the steps any good?

4. "Where are we going?"
Define the objectives of the campaign; your vision. Who is your target market? How are you able to get a key response (it's basically the reaction you want the product to receive) from them? How do you reach out?

5. "Are we getting there?"
Is it even plausible? Of course it is. Why would you even make a campaign if you think it cannot be done? Present your visual aids. Do you think a TV commercial fits in the campaign? Come up with a storyboard. A print ad? Why don't you show them a rough draught? Let the client know that with this campaign, the vision will be materialized. I mean, you already have the sketches and stuff, some magic done by the media department and your work will be awesome.

At panel, provide hard copies of your presentation. Be sure of what you are talking about. If you don't even understand what the hell you are discussing, how would the client (who can be dumbasses, really) get it?

Unit 18A-Task 3-The Role of Advertising Standards Authority

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is the UK's independent regulator of advertising across all media. They are there to check that all advertising companies do legal, decent, honest and truthful adverts by applying the Advertising Codes. The Advertising Codes lay down rules for advertisers, agencies and media owners to follow. They check these rules are being followed by investigation complaints made about the ads, sales promotions or direct marketing and decided whether or not the advertising complies with its advertising standards codes. Before distributing or submitting a marketing communication for publication, marketers must hold documentary evidence to prove all claims, whether direct or implied, that are capable of objective substantiation and that no marketing communication should mislead, or likely to mislead, by inaccuracy, exaggeration etc.

Unit 18B Advertising Production-Task 1

The product that I am going to advertise is a new perfume called 'Innocence'. The company that the perfume is coming from is called Francesca cosmetics. This is the first perfume product that is being released from my company. It will start being sold in the UK and will hopefully become a worldwide brand due to the hopefull success of this perfume.

The target audience for this perfume will be aimed at teenagers and above with the age range of 15-25 and to females.

The perfume bottle will be shaped like a heart with a bow on the top of the heart, just under the lid. The colour of the bottle will be black and the bow will be red. These colours will show the contrast between the name and the bottle. The bottle will show a dark side to the perfume but the name indicates the innocence of the perfume.

Unit 18B-Advertising Production Task 2

Client advertising proposal for the new perfume ‘Innocence’

To: Advertisement Coordination-Head.

From: Francesca Keown, Francesca’s cosmetics ltd.
Subject: Client Advertising Proposal.
Proposal submitted on: 9th March 2012.

This proposal is to advertise a brand new product to the market. It is the first release of a female perfume from my range line. The product will be realised on the 24th May.

I have decided to advertise the product in a variety of different ways with an advertising budget of approximately £100,000. I have decided to either advertise through many well known magazines that are suitable to the target market. In addition, I may also use TV adverts. The advert will be shown on well known and majorly watched channels in order to get the product across to viewers who may be unaware that this product has now been introduced onto the market.

In the print adverts we would like to put forward a dark but innocent stylish view of the perfume. We will use dark, fierce colours that complement each other such as reds and black to show the difference between the title and the image.

The target market for this perfume will be aimed at teenagers and up. The age range of the product will be aged 15 to around 25.

Yours faithfully,
Francesca Keown

Unit 7C Print Production-Task 8, Improved magazine

I have adapted my magazine cover according to the comments on my previous magazine cover. I have adjusted the price by moving it to the right hand side of the page, and by changing the block rectangle to a pug. This has made it more effective as it stands out more and advertises the fact that the magazine is only £1.70. For the main image I have also enlarged it, this draws in the audience more and adds to the fact that the model is looking at the audience through direct address.I chose the black and white image so that all of the products added e.g. cover lines stand out more against the image as I have used colours for the cover lines. For the cover lines I changed the pink of the text to a darker shade. This has helped as it has made the text stand out and be more visible to the eye as the lighter shade blended in with the black.
